At Loughborough Housing Corporation we are committed to providing safe, affordable comfortable yet independent apartment living...
Our goal is to provide a place that feels like home.
We offer independent senior living apartments with both Rent‑Geared‑to‑Income (RGI) and market‑rent options. Eligibility depends on the type of housing being applied for and the availability. All applicants must:
RGI stands for Rent‑Geared‑to‑Income. In Ontario, RGI housing helps make rent affordable by adjusting it based on a household’s income.
How Your Rent Is CalculatedYour rent is usually set at approximately 30% of your household’s gross monthly income.
Income includes sources such as:
RGI housing helps ensure seniors can maintain stable, affordable housing while continuing to live independently. When applying for RGI with Loughborough Housing Corporation, administered by our service manager, applicants must meet the following eligibility:
Once housed, tenants are required to complete an annual income review where your rent is subject to change if your income changes. Any change in income must be reported promptly to ensure rent is calculated correctly. The staff here at Loughborough Housing Corporation will provide a personal explanation of all this upon acceptance.
To be eligible for Rent‑Geared‑to‑Income (RGI) seniors’ housing in Ontario, applicants must meet provincial and local eligibility requirements. Eligibility is determined by the local Service Manager, in accordance with Ontario housing legislation. The basic requirements for applicants are:
To be considered able to live in an independent apartment setting, you must be willing and able to care for yourself, with or without the help of an emergency contact. Tenants (or their emergency contact/substitute decision-maker) are responsible for arranging any personal care providers (Nurses, PSW’s or Social workers) they see fit without managements involvement.
Wait times vary depending on apartment availability and housing type. Rent‑Geared‑to‑Income (RGI) apartments are offered through a centralized waiting list and may have wait times of several years. At this time, our building has more market‑rent apartments than RGI units, and the Service Manager is working toward increasing RGI placements as units become available. Market‑rent apartments typically have shorter wait times and are offered based on current availability. Exact wait times cannot be guaranteed, and applicants are encouraged to keep their contact information up to date.
Our seniors’ apartment building offers safe, well‑maintained, independent living in a welcoming community. Residents can expect on‑site management, a 24/7 emergency contact, and prompt attention to building‑related concerns.
The building includes garbage and recycling services, elevators, and several shared amenities such as common rooms with small kitchenettes, a garden area, and outdoor patio and gazebo spaces for residents to enjoy. Common areas are maintained for comfort, safety, and social connection.
Management is responsible for the care and operation of the building and for assisting with housing‑related questions. As this is an independent living community, personal care, medical services, and advocacy are not provided, and management is not involved in residents’ individual support arrangements
Our building is located in the heart of the Village of Sydenham, close to many everyday amenities. Within walking distance, residents can access a grocery store, pharmacy, library, local shops, restaurants, and parks, as well as community supports such as the Grace Social & Activity Centre and the local food bank. Living in the village allows residents to meet many daily needs without reliance on a vehicle, depending on individual mobility.
